According to laboratory tests that were conducted to elute of gold from gold-bearing carbon particles, results show that: Gold recovery from pregnant carbon particles increased by addition of sugar to elute solution until %3 of sugar in elution, more addition of sugar doesn’t make any more increases of recovery. Thus %3 of sugar in elution was chosen as an optimum level.
At the optimum level of sugar addition equal to %3, recovery of gold until 2 hours increases and after that it reminds constant. Gold recovery under those conditions is %33.72 and under %1 sugar and 8 hours is %33.31 that shows both recoveries approximately are equal. According to these results, optimum condition with 2 hours and %3 of sugar addition was achieved. An increasing of gold recovery about 25% from activated carbon in 50 to 98°C was accrued but in lower temperatures it was slight. According to economic studies, in Muteh and Agh Dareh gold plants if the new eluent be used instead of their present elution, annual operating cost of $ 851,400 and $780,450 will be saved, respectively. In addition, compared to conventional methods the initial investment costs in new process will be saved.
