In the studied sample, the Zn percentage of low grade zinc silicate from Mahdiabad lead-zinc mine is 9.79 percent. The minerals in the sample contains Hemi morphite, Chalcophanite, Hematite, Goethite, Ankerite, Pyrolusite and Dolomite. Degrees of freedom for zinc minerals is 100 micron. With quality survey of sample was predicted that it’s not possible to pre-concentrate by gravity separation, but it’s possible to preconcentrate by high intensity magnetic separation methods (dry-wet). Magnetic separation method with high gradian magnet (18,000 G) increases the concentrate grade but recovery is low. Conventional flotation methods (direct and reverse) did not produce the desired results. The sample was calcinated at 500oC temperature for 1 hour to break the silicate structure, and filtration pulp Leach easily be done. Design leaching tests were conducted by CCD and the optimal conditions were as follows: concentration of pulp: 30%, sulfuric acid concentration: 22.5, leaching temperature: 45oC. Under these conditions, a solution of zinc sulfate concentration with 8.3 g/l and 83.81% recovery was obtained. The obtained zinc sulfate solution containing impurities such as iron and manganese with concentrations of 0.16 and 0.58 g/l respectively, which is the upper limit for entry to electrowinning unit, so using solvent extraction (SX) analysis by organic solvents D2EHPA (2-ethylhexyl phosphoric acid) and diluent kerosene (kerosene) with 30% by volume, pH=2.5 and organic volume ratio of water to 2 to 1 and 2-step extraction. in this condition zinc recovery was 88.5% for extraction phase. with 2-step Washing of organic solution by sulfuric acid, 93% of zinc sulfate solution was recovered. The technical and economic calculations have shown that the production of 5500 tons of ingots per year can be expected to produce ingots with a grade of 99.97% of the territory of the Mehdiabad mine be effective.
